The Aldabra Giant Tortoises can only be found in the Seychelles and are similar to the Giant Tortoises found in the Galapagos Islands. These gentle giants normally live for over 100 years but some individuals have been known to live 200+ years. The current oldest living animal on Earth is Jonathan, the Aldabra Giant Tortoise who’s estimated age is around 186 – 187 years old. They can also grow to be over 500lbs.

Most of the Giant Tortoises in the Seychelles live in the Aldabra Atoll and visiting them is quite difficult since the approvals to do so are given out in limited numbers.

You can also visit them at the Seychelles Botanical Gardens on the main island of Mahé.

You could also be lucky enough to know someone who has some in their backyard.
