A lot of people have black suitcases. This makes it hard to find yours when waiting at the baggage claim area. Some will tie a coloured scarf or put one of those ”suitcase belt” thingy in order to differentiate theirs from the others. Scarfs get untied and sometimes the luggage is placed in a way that hides the scarf from view. That belt/strap often unclips or breaks during transport so it’s not a sure thing either.

I remedied this situation by purchasing a bright yellow hardcover suitcase. Not only can I immediately spot mine on the carousel or on the floor somewhere but no thief wants to steal a big bright yellow suitcase. It also prevents any scenario where someone picks up my black suitcase thinking it’s their black suitcase.
